Dartmouth North Community Centre (DNCC) & Halifax Public Libraries Outdoor Project

A last look at Dartmouth North Community Centre before renovations get underway.

Opened in 1996, this public facility housing recreation services and the Dartmouth North Public Library is at the heart of the Dartmouth North community. This project aims to make significant improvements to the exterior spaces to enable recreation and library programming to extend beyond the walls of the building. These exterior spaces link a school, a transit terminal and a mix of single family and rental housing, and the project will create accessible common ground for community events, creativity and learning.

When the project is complete, the public will have a furnished outdoor library to support language and computer literacy, education and programming, a new naturalized playground, better separation between vehicles and pedestrians, improved landscaping, and 24-hour WiFi. This project will provide a legacy that will last for generations.
